EHS & S Workshop

In line with its full commitment and dedication to Environment, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS & S), KGL PI arranged a workshop during July 2008 on basic safety for the line agents that use Shuaiba Area Container Terminal (SACT) services. The workshop was conducted by Nather Al-Abbasi, the Corporate EHS & S Manger, and attended by a number of line agents including: the United Arab Shipping Agencies, Maersk Kuwait Shipping Co, Al-Bader Shipping Co, CMA-CGM and RCL Shipping. At the outset of the workshop, Nather Al-Abbasi, welcomed the line agent representatives and thanked them for accepting the invitation to attend this workshop.

He outlined the basic objectives for making such initiatives. “We are highly committed to the personal safety of each and every one who enters our container terminal, and therefore, we insist on the application of the strictest safety rules and regulations. Our main objective is to provide a very safe workplace to our employees and customers”. The workshop addressed several topics including controlling terminal traffic, safety inside and within the container terminal, safety guidelines and instruction as per KGL PI requirements, the reporting procedures in addition to other topics. Two movies were exhibited during the workshop. The EHS & S Manager concluded the workshop by highlighting the crucial importance of strict adherence to all safety matters. He mentioned that “our ultimate objective has been to achieve a zero percent accident / incident record, and thanks to the exemplary cooperation demonstrated by all parties, we are proud to say that we have succeeded in achieving this target”. “But this is, by no means, the end our endeavors. Our pursue to excellence in EHS & S is an everlasting initiative. We are, therefore, engaged in promoting our safety standards, examine new procedures and processes on continuous basis to be in conformity with the most advanced internationally recognized standards,” he added.
